Khaled Makhloufi is a health economist affiliated with Aix-Marseille Université and INSERM-IRD-UMR 912 (SESSTIM). He currently serves, as noted, as a Director at the Caisse Nationale d’Assurance Maladie (CNAM) in Tunisia. His work lies at the intersection of health economics, public health, and social protection, with a particular focus on universal health coverage, health insurance, and healthcare financing in Tunisia and North Africa. His academic and policy research examines access to care, willingness to pay for health insurance, and the institutional challenges of extending social health protection in contexts marked by informality and unequal access to services. His doctoral work at Aix-Marseille Université focused on the theoretical and empirical dimensions of universal health coverage in Tunisia.
