Professor Bach Xuan Tran is a public health scholar and health economist at the VNU University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, where he serves as Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Director of the International Institute for Training and Research (INSTAR). He is also an Adjunct Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. His work focuses on health economics, health policy, health services research, digital health, and global health, with particular expertise in decision-analytic modeling for the evaluation of health technologies and policies. Professor Tran has extensive experience working with governments and international organizations across Asia on the design of cost-effective interventions and the strengthening of health systems. His research addresses major public health challenges, including TB/HIV, substance use, mental health, e-health, and pandemic preparedness. He earned his PhD in Health Services and Policy from the University of Alberta, completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, and also holds an HDR from Aix-Marseille University.
